Westie with Leash, Octagonal Florentine Board, Signed Pat McCarthy

Every dog who ever carried his own leash to the door knew exactly what he was doing. It isn't fetching. It's asking, in the only language available to him, and it works every time.

This one has waited on a step like that before. Maybe for a woman who kept the good coat on the hook by the red door. Maybe at four in the afternoon, which was always the hour, whether anyone said so or not. Maybe long enough that the leash went soft in his mouth and he set it down and picked it up again.

It doesn't just show a terrier in a doorway. It shows the moment before someone gave in.

Westie with Leash, Original Oil on Octagonal Florentine Board. Signed lower right, Pat McCarthy. Gilt edge, incised cream ground. 6.5" x 7"

Each piece is vintage or antique and has lived a life before finding its way to Tallmadge Ave; natural signs of age, wear, patina, and imperfections are part of its character and are to be expected. All pieces are sold as-is, and any notable condition issues are described in the product listing. That said, if it arrives damaged or isn't as described, we'll refund you in full, including shipping — since each piece is one of a kind, we can't simply send a replacement.
