Vintage Peach Still Life Oil Painting — Fruit on a Glass Compote, Gilt Frame

An original oil still life: ripe peaches piled on a footed glass compote, a few more scattered across a white linen cloth that spills over the table's edge, all set against a soft dark ground. Warm, patient brushwork — the bloom on the skins, the bare little branch left in among the leaves, the one peach that rolled off on its own.

Set in a carved giltwood frame with real age to the finish, ready to hang. No provenance on the artist, and we like it that way — the kind of dining-room painting that outlived whoever first hung it.

It plays as well against modern furniture as it does against antiques. We styled it over a walnut credenza beside a leather lounge chair; it held its own.
