Vintage Chalkware Horse Sculpture, Attributed to Maddux of California — 1950s

A horse mid-stride, cast in chalkware and set on a rough-hewn plaster base. We attribute it to Maddux of California based on the form and the era, though we can't confirm it with certainty.

A few small chips along the base and mane, the kind of wear that comes from sixty-plus years of being handled, moved, and lived with. We think it adds to the piece rather than takes from it.
