Patti McCarthy Retriever on a Cushion, Original Oil on Florentine Board, 10" x 7"

Every house with a retriever has one cushion that stopped belonging to anyone else years ago. Nobody decided it. The dog just kept lying there until it was true.

This one has kept that spot before. Maybe by the fire on a Sunday afternoon. Maybe at the foot of the stairs, where he could see both doors. Maybe in the kitchen, close enough to hear the refrigerator open.

It doesn’t just show a dog on a cushion. It shows whose cushion it is.

Retriever on a Cushion, Original Oil on Shaped Florentine Board. Signed lower right, P. McCarthy. Oval portrait in a gilt rope border, cream ground, gilt rosettes and edge. 10" x 7".

Condition: light age wear to the cream and gilt, with a few small paint losses on the board. The painting itself is clean.

For the house where one cushion has a name on it. #followthefeeling @tallmadge_ave_vintage

Patti often paints on old Florentine boards and plaques, and her work comes in vintage frames, so natural signs of age, wear and patina are part of each piece's character and are to be expected. All pieces are sold as-is, and any notable condition issues are described in the product listing. That said, if it arrives damaged or isn't as described, we'll refund you in full, including shipping — since each piece is one of a kind, we can't simply send a replacement. Otherwise, returns are accepted within 14 days of delivery. Questions any time at christine@tallmadgeave.com — we're a two-person shop, and we answer.
