Antique Cast Iron Fox Terrier Bookends, Gilt Finish, 1920s Pair

A handsome pair of 4" cast iron bookends, each cast in relief with a fox terrier standing alert in a grassy field, framed by an arched top. The original gold gilt finish has worn softly over the decades, with darker patina showing through at the high points — the kind of honest wear that only comes with age.

Weighty and solid, they hold a real shelf of books without budging. A great desk or study accent for anyone with a soft spot for terriers, and an easy piece of character for a paneled library, a bookcase, or a mantel.
