Pat McCarthy Bunny in Sèvres Blue Cachepot. Original Oil, Oval Gilt Frame

An original 13" x 11" oil by Pat McCarthy: a white rabbit standing tall in a bleu celeste cachepot, painted after old Sèvres porcelain, two bright birds in a gilded cartouche, gold handles, a scalloped foot. Set against a dark ground so the rabbit and the turquoise glaze do all the talking.

Framed in an oval gilt frame with scrolled corners, the gilding softly worn in the right places. Signed P. McCarthy. One of a kind.

The porcelain is the kind of thing that used to sit locked in a cabinet, admired and never touched. McCarthy put a rabbit in it and gave it back its sense of humor. A small painting that holds a wall on its own.
