Vintage Hunt Scene Mug with Riding-Crop Handle

Every kitchen had the one mug somebody had claimed. You didn't reach for it. It lived at the front of the shelf and it was his, the way a chair in the den was his.

This one belonged to a man who rode, or wanted to. Maybe it went out to the barn on cold mornings, coffee steaming, breath showing. Maybe it sat on a desk under a wall of ribbons that were starting to fade. Maybe it hung on a mug tree in a kitchen where riding boots dried by the door.
