Fox in Meadow, Oval Florentine Board, Pat McCarthy

At the edge of a field in late summer the daylilies go loose and heavy, and something moving through the grass stops the second you notice it.

This fox has been caught in that stillness a long time. Maybe crossing a meadow behind a house nobody locked the doors of. Maybe watched from a porch at the hour when the light turns gold and slow. Maybe painted by someone who stood very still, hoping it wouldn't run.

It doesn't just show a fox in a field. It holds the breath you took before it looked away.

Fox in Meadow, Original Oil on Oval Florentine Board. Signed lower right, Pat McCarthy. Gilt rope edge, cream ground. 5.5" x 7"

For the field where something always seemed to be watching. #followthefeeling @tallmadge_ave_vintage
