Vintage Blue & White Double Happiness Ginger Jar, Lidded Porcelain

Some objects mean something specific if you know it, and just mean "beautiful" if you don't, which is its own kind of gift.

This one says it plainly. Double happiness, painted in blue on both sides, the character a certain tradition stamps on a wedding. Maybe it sat on a mantel from the day of the wedding onward. Maybe it held nothing at all, just stood there, doing the one job of being present. Maybe it moved houses twice and got unpacked first both times.

It doesn't just sit on a shelf. It says the marriage in that house is still being celebrated, quietly, every day.
