Vintage Amish Folk Art Print by XHan Newswanger, Framed

A charming vintage folk-art print depicting life in an Amish farming community, signed XHan Newswanger in the lower right.

The softly colored scene captures a rural Pennsylvania landscape in autumn, with a farmhouse, surrounding fields, barns, trees, fences, and figures going about daily life. The naive, storybook-like quality of the figures gives the work an unmistakably vernacular character.

The print is presented in its original distressed dark-green wood frame with gilt detailing, giving it an especially appealing collected-over-time quality.

Included with the piece are the original vintage printed materials associated with the work, including an “At School” illustrated sheet describing life at an Amish one-room schoolhouse and an Amisfians Prints publication discussing Newswanger and his work. These materials provide additional context and make this more than simply a decorative vintage print.
