Spaniel Figurine, Black and White, Occupied Japan, 3.5"

A small black-and-white spaniel standing square, head turned a little to one side, long glossy ears hanging past his jaw. The kind of dog that sits on a windowsill for fifty years and never gets in the way.

Underneath, in blue, the mark: Occupied Japan. That places him in the years of the Allied occupation, between the end of the war in 1945 and April 1952.

Spaniel Figurine, hand-painted glazed porcelain, made in Japan. Marked Occupied Japan. Standing, black and white. 3.5" tall. A fine hairline at the top of one back leg, visible from underneath; light grime on the unglazed feet.

For the spaniel people, and anyone who keeps a small dog on the shelf. #followthefeeling @tallmadge_ave_vintage

Each piece is vintage or antique and has lived a life before finding its way to Tallmadge Ave; natural signs of age, wear, patina, and imperfections are part of its character and are to be expected. All pieces are sold as-is, and any notable condition issues are described in the product listing. That said, if it arrives damaged or isn't as described, we'll refund you in full, including shipping — since each piece is one of a kind, we can't simply send a replacement.
