He has done this before. Maybe on a school morning, ten minutes before anyone called up the stairs. Maybe on the first snow day, when he knew before she did. Maybe every morning of a summer nobody wanted to end.

It doesn’t just show a girl asleep. It shows who got up first.

Patti often paints on old Florentine boards and plaques, and her work comes in vintage frames, so natural signs of age, wear and patina are part of each piece's character and are to be expected.
