Hand-Painted Cherub Urn Vase, Japan, Blue and Cream, 12"

A two-handled urn in cornflower blue, with a ring of cherubs running around the middle: one reading, one tending a rose bush, one carrying an armful of blooms. Everything is raised off the surface and painted by hand, from the leaf bands on the neck to the little birds flying overhead.

This vase has stood somewhere before. Maybe on a grandmother's piano. Maybe in a front hall with lilacs from the yard. Maybe on a mantel where it was the one thing everyone asked about.

It doesn't just hold flowers. It brings a little garden indoors even when it's empty.

Hand-painted ceramic urn vase with raised cherub and floral decoration. Marked "Made in Japan" on the base. 12" tall. Small glaze chips on the blue just below the shoulder band, wear to the foot rim, and crazing and age staining on the base, shown in the photos.

For the entry table, the mantel, or anyone who still cuts flowers from the garden. #followthefeeling @tallmadge_ave_vintage
