Vintage Handcrafted Seashell Keepsake Box

A wonderfully exuberant vintage keepsake box, completely encrusted with an assortment of natural seashells in soft shades of ivory, sand, blush and coral. The lid is especially elaborate, crowned with layered shells including scallops, spirals and small conch forms, while rows of shells cover the sides in a wonderfully tactile, almost architectural arrangement.

The hinged lid opens to reveal a surprisingly rich rust-colored velvet-lined interior, creating a beautiful contrast with the pale shells outside. Likely made as a decorative souvenir or folk-art object, it has the wonderfully individual, handmade quality associated with vintage shellwork.

Equal parts coastal curiosity and decorative object, it would be beautiful on a dressing table, stacked on books, or displayed among other collected objects.
