Early on a cold morning, the one patch of lawn where the frost is already gone is usually where something slept.
This one has curled up somewhere like that before. Maybe under the hedge at the bottom of the yard. Maybe on the bank behind a barn where the hay was kept. Maybe at the edge of a field just past a kitchen window, where someone stood with the first coffee and kept very still.
It doesn’t just show a fox at rest. It shows the second before he decides whether you’re trouble.
Red Fox, Original Oil on Rectangular Florentine Board. Signed P. McCarthy. Greek key and scalloped gilt borders. 6" x 8"
For whoever used to stand at that window and not move. #followthefeeling @tallmadge_ave_vintage
