A rabbit who feels safe lies down like he’s been dropped from a height: belly flat, back legs kicked straight out behind him, ears wherever they land.
This one has stretched out like that before. Maybe on the cool kitchen tile in August. Maybe under a porch swing while somebody shelled peas above him. Maybe in the one room of the house where nobody ever ran.
It doesn’t just show a rabbit lying down. It shows what a house looks like when nothing in it is in a hurry.
Lop-Eared Rabbit, Original Oil on Rectangular Florentine Board. Signed lower right, P. McCarthy. Beaded and rope-twist gilt borders. 6" x 9"
For the room you’d stretch out in too, if no one were looking. #followthefeeling @tallmadge_ave_vintage
