The long-haired ones always find the patch of floor where the afternoon sun lands, and they settle onto it like they paid for it. Ears out, paws crossed, one eye on whoever just walked in.
This one has kept that post before. Maybe at the foot of a bed nobody was allowed to make while he was on it. Maybe on the landing, where he could hear both floors at once. Maybe in a house where someone always saved him the end of the toast.
It doesn’t just show a dachshund on a cushion. It shows who was actually running the room.
Long-Haired Dachshund, Original Oil on Rectangular Florentine Board. Signed lower right, P. McCarthy. Teal ground, Greek key and scalloped gilt borders. 6.5" x 8.5"
For the house that was always run by its smallest resident. #followthefeeling @tallmadge_ave_vintage
