A 11" x 14" original watercolor by Pat McCarthy: a small grey rabbit settled into a blue-and-white willow bowl, ears up, entirely at home. The blue willow pattern is painted freehand, the pagoda, the willow, the little bridge, and finished with a gold rim that catches the light.
Framed in an antique-style gilt frame with a ribbed and fluted profile, double-matted in cream with a gold inner bevel. Signed P. McCarthy. One of a kind.
The china was already old. McCarthy just added the rabbit, and gave a familiar pattern a second life and a straight face about it. A piece for a bookshelf, a gallery wall, or the corner of a room that needs one quiet, funny thing.
