Michel Hermel Signed Numbered Lithograph, French Riverside Scene, Framed

There's a print in some houses that isn't really about the scene it shows, it's about the afternoon it promises. Green grass, a rowboat crossing slow water, everyone dressed for nothing in particular except being outside.

This one's signed and numbered, Michel Hermel, one of a limited run. A village leans into the frame on the left, a tree does the real work of the composition, and a whole cast of small figures go about the business of a good afternoon, picnicking, walking, rowing, doing nothing urgent. Maybe it hung in a dining room that got its light early. Maybe it was the print someone brought back from somewhere and never took down.

It doesn't just decorate a wall. It gives a house a permanent good day, framed and hung where you'll walk past it on your way to a much more ordinary one.
