Vintage Japanese Porcelain Setter Dog Figurine Pair, Pointing & Reclining

Some houses keep a shelf just for sporting dogs, a whole quiet menagerie of animals that never age, never get muddy, never have to come in from the rain.

This pair has stood there before. One up on point, one settled at her feet, both marked in the same rust and white. Maybe they sat on a desk in a study that smelled like a wood fire. Maybe they watched over a gun cabinet for forty years. Maybe they were a gift for a dog that had already died, so someone could keep the shape of him around.

They don't just decorate a shelf. They hold still the way real dogs never do, devoted, and permanently on duty.

Vintage Japanese Porcelain Setter Pair. Hand-painted rust and white, one pointing and one reclining, mounted together on a marbled oval base. 6" wide x 4.5" tall

Each piece is vintage or antique and has lived a life before finding its way to Tallmadge Ave; natural signs of age, wear, patina, and imperfections are part of its character and are to be expected. All pieces are sold as-is, and any notable condition issues are described in the product listing. That said, if it arrives damaged or isn't as described, we'll refund you in full, including shipping — since each piece is one of a kind, we can't simply send a replacement.
