Vintage Floral Still Life Oil, Signed T. Kelly, Carved Wood Frame

Somebody painted these flowers thick. Not carefully, thick, the paint standing up off the canvas so the petals catch light the way real ones do at four in the afternoon.

It's a bouquet that was never arranged. Coral and cream and a red that shouldn't work next to the coral but does, crowded into a small brass-colored vase that's clearly too modest for what's in it. The kind of arrangement somebody made from their own yard, in a hurry, because company was coming.

The frame is dark and heavy and takes it seriously. The linen liner does the rest.
